Cancellations to services between Bristol Parkway and Cardiff Central
Following the fire brigade dealing with an incident near the railway yesterday between Bristol Parkway and Cardiff Central some lines are now open.

Impact:

Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 80 minutes or revised. Disruption is expected until 23:59 06/05.

Following a line-side fire between Cardiff Central and Newport yesterday, Network Rail Wales are working to repair the damage caused to the signalling and overhead electric cables. This is expected to last all day Bank Holiday Monday 5th May and Tuesday 6th May 2025.

Whilst repair works are undertaken only two of the four railway lines are available for use in this area and the trains will have to run at reduced speed, this is causing delays of approximately 60 minutes.

To help ease congestion, GWR train services will be reduced to 1 train per hour only between Bristol Parkway and Cardiff Central via Newport.

GWR train services from the West Country to Cardiff Central, are terminating short / starting back from Bristol Temple Meads, customers for South Wales are advised to change there for services to Bristol Parkway and then await the severely reduced train service to Cardiff Central.

GWR train services from Portsmouth Harbour, Southampton Central, Salisbury and Westbury to Cardiff Central are calling additionally and terminating at / starting back from Bristol Parkway, customers for South Wales are advised to await the severely reduced train service to Cardiff Central.

GWR train services from London Paddington to Carmarthen will terminate at / start back from Swansea, customers for stations between Swansea and Carmarthen are advised to change for Transport for Wales services.

GWR train services for Patchway and Severn Tunnel Junction stations are currently suspended.

A limited Rail replacement road transport service will operate Bristol Parkway - Patchway - Severn Tunnel Junction and return.

GWR train services from South Wales to Bristol Parkway, Swindon, Reading and London Paddington are reduced to one per hour and subject to delays of 60+ minutes.

Customers for the West Country can change at Newport for CrossCountry Trains or Bristol Parkway for GWR services to Bristol Temple Meads and then change there for services to Taunton, Exeter St Davids, Plymouth, Truro and Penzance.

Customers for Westbury, Salisbury, Southampton Central and Portsmouth Harbour should change at Bristol Parkway for services towards the South Coast.

CrossCountry Trains between the West Country and the Midlands and the North were diverting via Bristol Parkway and Newport - these are still operating.

Cancellations to services between Maidenhead and Marlow
Due to vandalism on a train between Maidenhead and Marlow fewer trains are able to run on the line.

Impact:

Train services running to and from these stations will be cancelled. Disruption is expected until 13:30 05/05.

Customer Advice:

We're sorry for the delay to your journey today. Due to vandalism on our train that runs between Maidenhead and Marlow, we have had to suspend the train service whilst we find a suitable replacement train. In the meantime, we have road replacement transport running in the form of taxis. These will depart from the front of stations but will not run to the times of trains.

If you are travelling between Marlow and Central London, you may wish to start or end your journey at High Wycombe station instead. Your tickets will be accepted on Chiltern Railways services between High Wycombe and London Marylebone at no extra cost. We have sourced a replacement train which means the first departure from Maidenhead will be the 12:34 towards Marlow. The first departure from Marlow towards Maidenhead will be the 13:00 departure from Marlow.
